TL;DR: We keep the minimum needed to run accounts, comments, likes, and analytics. You can request access or deletion at any time.

1) Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how AnimePolls (“we”, “us”, “Service”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our site, create an account, post comments, react to content, or otherwise interact with the Service.

  • Account data: username, email, hashed password, basic profile preferences.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, referrer, device/browser data, approximate location (from IP), timestamps, and standard server logs.
  • Community data: comments you post, likes/reactions, and related metadata (e.g., created_at, parent thread).
  • Cookies: session and security cookies, preferences, and analytics cookies (see below).
  • Contact data: if you email us or submit forms, we collect the info you provide.

3) How We Use Data

  • Provide and secure the Service (authentication, anti-abuse, rate limiting).
  • Operate community features (comments, likes), show counts, and moderate content.
  • Understand performance through aggregated analytics and improve features.

4) Cookies & Tracking

We use:

  • Essential cookies (session, CSRF, auth) — required for login and core features.
  • Preference cookies — remember UI choices.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (GA4) to understand traffic and performance. GA may set its own cookies and process IP addresses in a privacy-preserving manner.

5) Comments & Likes

To keep the community healthy:

  • Only logged-in users may post comments or like content.
  • We store your comment text, timestamps, and your user ID; likes store your user ID and the related comment/article ID.
  • We may remove or moderate content that violates our Terms.

6) Sharing & Processors

We don’t sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, email). These processors are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

7) Security

We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures (e.g., TLS in transit, hashed passwords, least-privilege access). No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials confidential.

8) Data Retention

  • Account data: kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymized upon verified request, subject to legal holds.
  • Comments: retained to preserve discussion context unless removed by you or moderation.
  • Logs: server logs typically retained up to 30–90 days for security and diagnostics.
  • Backups: rotate on a schedule; data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period.

9) Your Choices & Rights

  • Access / export: request a copy of your data.
  • Delete: you can request account deletion; we’ll remove or anonymize personal data where feasible.
  • Correct: update profile details from your account page.
  • Opt-out of analytics: use your browser’s “Do Not Track” or block analytics scripts/cookies.

10) Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to remove it.

12) Changes
